Make up organizing

While my makeup has been neatly contained for a while, it wasn't always conducive to finding something easily unless I recently used it.
Case in point:

However, I bought this lovely organizer that thankfully fits on the small space in my bathroom.

And after about 10 minutes of transferring, voila.

I did edit a video together of the process.

And here's a behind the scene photo of how I had to set my tripod up. Clearly, I need a new one if I'm going to keep using my DSLR. I either can't loosen the clamps enough to extend the legs, or in most cases, can't tighten them enough that it won't collapse slowly under it's own weight.

Fitness update 4/14

Hi! Back on the fitness wagon. A little bit.

I was motivated this weekend by the World's Largest Bunny Hop race from Yes.Fit. Walked the first half, stationary bike the second. Isn't the medal cute?

And got my latest challenge coin in the mail today.

April update

I've fallen off the wagon, a lot. The weather is better so I'll try and get back into at least maintaining my fitness level.

Check out this video from my YouTube page for a little more of what's going on with me.

Fitness - Week 8

Really fell off the wagon when it came to exercise this past week. Can you really blame me too much with what's going on?

Fitness - Week 7

Week 7 was not that good a week for me. I kind of made up for my laziness on the weekend, but weather and other factors kept me on my couch most of the week.

Temperature will be nice to walk/run outdoors, but lots of rain in the forecast. I do have the stationary bike at my parents, although I don't know if the gym closure affects the itty bitty one at their complex. We'll see what I can get done this week. Might try and get back into the workout apps I have on my phone.
Will also try and have a video up on my youtube page.

Fitness - Week 6

Woo hoo! I did better than last week in almost all categories. The C25k training definitely helped. Went to a track on Sunday and one minute of jogging put me at almost half a lap. So 9 minute mile if I eventually sustain it?

Might not get 3 training sessions in this week. Although it's been unseasonally warm, I've been feeling a bit lazy the past few days. Stationary bike is possible though, which doens't help with the above stats, but does count to my Yes.Fit How Far Can You Go race. Still meandering my way through Florida.

Fitness - Week 5

Apparently, despite an extra day of exercise, I didn't do nearly as much as last week. I did do a few jogs on the treadmill during one session. Jogged .10 of a mile after walking 1. Then as I was approaching mile 2, did it for about a minute. I kept upping the pace finally hitting 5.5 mph as I tried to find a comfortable gait.

I did take advantage of the nice weather today and did week 1/day 1 of a C25K training. Physically felt better than I thought. Although I don't know if my jog was any faster than my normal walking pace. Certainly slowed my walk between jogs.

Still figuring out what feels comfortable with a stride.

Fitness - Week 4

Welcome to the end of my first month keeping this blog. I pushed the miles this week and got more done with fewer days of exercise. I feel comfortable walking a 5k.

Didn't quite stick with the 30 day walking challenge as set up by my earlier post, but this is far more than I was doing a month ago.

Despite being a couch potato for the better part of two and a half years, I seem to have maintained a pretty high baseline fitness. I even ran a little bit.

I was never a runner. Mainly because the last time I was forced to run was high school and I was terribly out of shape. While skinny, resting pulse hovered around 100 and I could never breathe right due to allergies. Might still have that second problem.

I did set up a youtube account to correlate with this blog, but no videos quite yet. I meant to do a quick animated intro this weekend, but got lazy.

I did however crochet a basketball (pillow) does that count for something?

Fitness - Week 3

I worked out 5 days last week. Woohoo! Probably not going to match it this week. But I did go for an almost 4 mile walk today. I did lose about half of last week's weight gain so I'm only 2 pounds heavier than two weeks ago. My measurements have stayed about the same as well.

Part of my workout motivation are these medals/coins from Yes.Fit. The medal I had gotten mostly by walking with one final push on the bike. The coins I'm getting for pure walking. This coin was for a mile. I have another one in the mail and my 3.8 mile walk today got me the third coin.

Beauty - My eye shape

Google 'What is my eye shape?' and you get a lot of results stating the 6 basic shapes and the best makeup for them. I don't think they cover my eyes.

Based on the black line I have upturned eyes as my outer corner is higher than my right.
So to create a cat's eyes/winged eyeliner, I should follow the green line. Looks perfect.

However, I may also have deep set eyes? Because that orange line is my extended crease. This causes me to look like I have downturned eyes. And between that and the downward curve of my lips, I have RBF.

Before that term was coined, I had so many people ask if I was OK because I looked sad or mad. Nope, that's just my natural face. Joy.

Fitness - Week 2 update

Some good news, some not so good news. I didn't do as well with my water intake this week. Still more than I usually do, but averaged 20-24 ounces a day. Also gained 4 pounds. Possibly water weight, possibly other factors including building back muscle from walking/cycling. Not too worried, but not happy about being back above a certain weight ending in 0.

Sunday I hopped on a stationary bike for over 30 minutes while watching the Oscar's red carpet. Biked over 10 miles. Earlier in the week I did 1.75 miles of walking in about 24 minutes. All workouts were within my normal/natural pace and I could've probably kept going. Although my legs were certainly feeling wobbly after I stopped. Kind of like when I went on the swings for the whole of recess when I was a kid.

Going to keep pushing time/distance rather than pace this week. Mainly treadmill/bike due to rainy weather. I hate rain.

Beauty - My basic makeup

This is my basic make up routine. Chubby stick from Clinique for undereye and blush (2 different colors obviously), funky colored eyeliner, and a lipstick.

The colors switch up for the eyeliner and lipstick, but I get it done in under a minute, usually. I am not a morning person and this is usually all I am capable of before heading off to work.

The eyeliner just goes to the corner rather than down my entire 'lid'.

Fitness - Week 1 update

Aside from Sunday, I managed to drink 24 to 32 ounces of water a day. My mother, the nurse, says I'll feel better. Only difference I can see so far is I have to pee a lot. Possibly my body doesn't know what to do with this sudden influx of water?

I weighed myself over the weekend. I'm at my lightest in a few years. Probably since I stopped dancing. My measurements seem to have stabilized, except my bust. That's continued to go down, even though it's probably the one measurement I wish could have remained. I'm going to just assume I've lost the inch or so across my back... (Ha! Wishful thinking.)

My weekly report from Fitbit:

Also tried to do a 'leg raise' challenge from the Yes.Fit community. I completed day one with a few moments of rest. However I guess I pushed too far because on day 2, I could feel my lower abs were pulled trying to do the first leg raise. So, skipping this challenge, or modifying it once my poor abs are healed.

Fitness - Walking and Water

This week I have started a 30 day walking challenge and a water challenge.

Walking: I found a 30 day walking challenge that seemed to be for the beginner on HeandSheEatClean.com and figured it's a good place to start for getting me back to fitness.

Apparently, my normal walking speed puts me at about a 15 minute mile. Yay?

I have a spreadsheet to keep track of distance/time. Also should get back to keeping track of weight/measurements (different spreadsheet).

Water: I hate drinking water. It's a bit better when there's fruit in it, but only time I down a bottle is after a workout, which I haven't really been doing lately. I like to say I'm used to living in a semi-dehydrated state.

That being said I bought one of those water bottles with the time markers on them.

This is my progress for today. I started at 1pm. I did drink something else with dinner. How is it recommended to drink two of these a day?

Will have to flavor these eventually.

Welcome to my journey

Hi! I'm Katie. This is my starting point. First off, I have become a lazy hermit. Part introvert, part working evenings/weekends and not having a social life, part strong desire to craft. I do lots of crafts (see my other blog sewdance.blogspot.com). They make me feel less like a couch potato when watching TV. I probably listen more than watch but... *shrugs*

Anyway, I find myself unemployed (again) and have made myself a goal to get in better shape. I used to ride horses in college and that was probably the best shape of my life. Workouts transitioned to ballroom dancing after college but due to not having time and money at the same point in time, I haven't danced competitively since 2012. I want to, but it's expensive. So that has led me to here:

I did lose 10 pounds last year by cutting out vitamin water. I'm slender, it's not about the weight for me, and while my resting heart rate is no where near what it was in high school (around 100), it's not where it was when I was active.

This blog will mainly be trying to keep myself accountable for my fitness, while also sharing makeup tips? At least trials (and errors). I want to branch out from my normal routine (when I actually put makeup on) of funky colored liner, under eye cover up, blush, and lipstick. I also found when googling, that I have an eye shape that's usually not covered by beauty makeup tutorials. My crease extends well beyond my outer corner, making me look like I have downturned eyes.

So I can try and do cat eyes that just take the lower lash line and extend it, but then I look like I have a fish tail at the corner (case in point below)

We'll see how this goes...
